Wutsje and the other expert in copyright seem to agree to the FLAWED logic that the earliest date of copyright publication gives some form of validity to a real-world copyright.
By the logic of Wikipedia’s Wutsje, his/her/they quote the 26th August 2018 article by the BBC means by some weird logic of Wutsje that the copyright to the photograph must, somehow belong to the BBC.
This logic is subjective tripe and brings Wikipedia into disrepute.
FACT 1: The first photograph of Denzil Meyrick on police uniform from the “BBC copyrighted” article of 26th August 2018 (here) is a likely to be a COPYRIGHT BREACH BY THE BBC, as that picture of Denzil Meyrick in uniform was taken at Tulliallan Police College on the day Denzil Meyrick completed his basic training. The photographer was NOT a BBC employee, NOR a BBC photographer.
The police uniform photographer had been contracted to the SCOTTISH POLICE COLLEGE. Yet where in that photo of Denzil Meyrick in uniform PROPERLY ATTRIBUTE the photograph? They don’t! So Wutsje, your “date logic” as a tool to verify copyright is useless and wrong.
FACT 2: The second (disputed) photo that Wutsje’s flawed date logic (meaning the BBC date of 26th August 2018 as a means to delete the photo I uploaded on 18th February 2025, four days after Denzil Meyrick had died, as per his PERMISSION to reproduce his “likeness” under separate legislation is something you have applied in a SUBJECTIVE and WRONG manner.
FACT 3: Wutsje, your use of the generic “BBC Copyright reservation” at the bottom of the page (here) is utterly flawed because the BBC have wrongly copyrighted the FIFTH photograph from the top of their page. But at least, in what appears to be a BBC festival of plagiarism, they have properly attributed their free and lazy use of PHOTOGRAPH FIVE to “Angus and Mary Hogg” along with the legitimate and genuinely helpful GEOGRAPH platform.
FACT 4: The BBC cannot copyright the work of others by implication, nor by a whole page coverall as YOU suggest with the caveat at the botton. To do so is a breach of copyright for many of the photographs on that page.
In conclusion, Wutsje, you and AntiCompositeNumberhave caused offence and been offensive, which may be your right under Wikipedia’s cowardly 230 exemption in the USA, but the Wikimedia Foundation Will, at some point, have to start paying off the FINES that Wikipedia and their anti-disablist
and use some form of “date logic” meaning the earlier dat IS THE copyright owner is utter nonsense. Denzil and I shared that photograph. There is NO attribution immediately below it.
