Why can’t the new Registrar, Andy King, nor his line manager Jonathan Reynolds MP see that a breach is alleged to have been made by the new Companies House Registrar Andrew King (appointed September 2025)?
The alleged breach, is a promise made to the duty sheriff (the name for a “judge” in Scotland) at Forfar Sheriff Court that Companies House would appoint a “disabled-director-compliance-officer.” The reason was to ensure Companies House is…
(i). Compliant with the Equality Act 2010 in making “reasonable adjustments” for directors with disabilities, and:
(ii). To enable the disabled directors (approximately 203 in the UK) to AVOID and/or MINIMISE drawing State Benefits and:
(iii). Enable those disabled directors to continue creating new jobs (232 in the McLean case across 35 years).
Within a few days after the initial “Simple Form 6A” issued via Forfar Sheriff Forfar Court on 22nd March 2022, the previous Companies House Registrar, Louise Smyth CBE., made a humane, honourable and decent promise, delivered to the duty sheriff at Forfar, that she would respect the formal request, via Forfar Sheriff Court in a statement of claim against Companies House by Russell McLean.
True to her word, the requests were honoured by Registrar Louise Smyth CBE and the solicitor representing Companies House phoned Russell McLean at his home to seek agreement to the terms. That agreement was give and a request for the formal documents to be copied in to him (McLean).
Fortunately a “disabled-director-liaison-officer” was appointed and many jobs were saved with minimal extra help (stroke survivors can struggle at certain times of each day, depending on mental stress and physical fatigue). Relatively little assistance is required to retain directors with challenging disabilities so that they can minimise reliance on State Benefits, and create new jobs
Unfortunately the requests by Russell McLean for copies of HM Court document as assented to by Companies House and their solicitor, NEVER arrived at McLean’s address.
McLean now avers in law, that if a duty sheriff was required to approve and sign a missive of agreement between the two parties, then surely the courtesy should be observed by Companies House asking permission from the Sheriff at Forfar, to either: (a). VARY, or : (b). Caused the missive to be VARIED ~ prior to so doing
Now, the “disabled-director-liaison-officer” has had to be removed and no alternate protocol put in place to assist disabled directors navigate the notoriously dysfunctional “Verify-ID” computer system at Companies House.
Emails from counsel assisting McLean to Companies House have been left unanswered by Companies House and officially registered and recorded “Royal Mail Special Delivery” letters were returned to McLean with the incredulous, but witnessed wording…

Next, for veracity, our book keeper literally (and that is the correct use of the word), she literally went through 35 years’ worth of HM Land Registry and Registers of Scotland TITLE DEEDS to work out the FACT that 88 dilapidated-homes, closed-shops, shut-hotels and derelict-factories had been brought back to life, with 232 JOBS being created…

But why bother?
All the effort gets you is a Companies House Registrar who appears to just ignore the Sheriff at Forfar Sheriff Court, then refuses to help a disabled director navigate an infamously dysfunctional Companies House “Verify-ID” system that FORCES a company director to RESIGN because he is disabled and cannot get through the appallingly diabolical “Verify-ID system.
Sadly, the nightmare “Verify-ID system and continued contempt with which the new Registrar holds the ruling by the Sheriff at Forfar Sheriff Court means that 4 new JOBS have been LOST.
Much worse, Companies House SENIOR MANAGEMENT are going to cost 24 more LOST jobs at this one set of companies if the Registrar persists in ignoring PLEAS from a disabled director for help in navigating the terrible “VERIFY-ID” system…
